When I first met with Dr. Tatsumi in January 2012, I had been experiencing severe low back pain for approximately ten months. The pain had become so bad that I could do nothing but lie down flat. I had tried everything including physical therapy, cortisone injections, acupuncture, back braces, pain killers... nothing helped and I became extremely depressed. In February 2012, Dr. Tatsumi performed Minimally Invasive Surgery and Spine Fusion to remove the herniated disc between my L5/S1 Joint. Within six weeks of my surgery, I was able to walk up to two miles per day and had very little pain. Six months after surgery, I was back doing high impact aerobics, playing soccer with my dog, and pretty much any physical activity I desired... All without any pain! What a world of difference from where I was one year ago. My family and friends now call me a Bionic Woman! I feel extremely grateful to have been referred to Dr. Tatsumi, and also feel proud to be able to refer to him as "My Spine Surgeon".

Dr Tatsumi did my replacement disc surgery four months ago on disc C3-4. I am a 60 year old woman. I had a neck injury when I was 15 and have had neck pain, headaches with the pain increasing and then pain and numbness down my arm in recent years. The surgery was done as an outpatient, I went home about 4 hours after surgery. The first week or so I used the pain medications prescribed, and slept in a reclining chair. The pain from surgery was never any worse than some of my worst symptoms I had suffered over the years. After the first week I rarely needed the pain medications at all. Symptoms during recovery included a feeling that my head was "loose," some pain (as stated), very tired for 3-4 weeks. At about 2-1/2 months post surgery I was able to return to my yoga class and began physical therapy. At four months out I have more movement than I have had since my original injury 45 years ago! I still have some stiffness sometimes first thing in the morning, but that seems to be improving as well, and is usually gone after a few stretches.

I had a very good experience with Dr. Tatsumi, i had to have a double level surgery and he had me do a hybrid fusion and disc replacement. The surgery went very well and took less time than expected and my recovery was very quick. Dr. Tatsumi also helped me fight with my insurance companies to cover the multi level fusion / disc replacement and i felt he genuinely cares about his patients well being. I have had multiple back surgeries now and Dr. Tatsumi has done them both and i have had the best outcomes / experiences possible due to his expertise and ability in his field. I would highly recommend him to anyone having back procedures.

From my first visit all the way through my surgery, Dr. Tatsumi instilled confidence, accuracy and was very personable. Since my surgery I have responded to Physical Therapy and am doing great. The whole procedure was a success. I would highly recommend Dr. Tatsumi and if I ever need his expertise again, I would not hesitate to put my life in his hands.

Dr Tatsumi is an amazing doctor, he answered any questions I had about my back issues and later the surgery. He explains every step so nothing comes as a surprise later on. I was so nerves about my surgery since it was the first time I was ever knocked out but Dr Tatsumi did an outstanding job and I feel great. I wish I would of found him a long time ago.

Dr Robert Tatsumi is a brilliant surgeon and a great human being. I was in constant pain until I agreed to have Dr. Tatsumi operate on me, some 60 years since my last operation. He immediately put me at ease, explained in detail what was wrong and what had to be done. After the operation I felt wonderful and no pain. It's difficult to see where the operation was because there are no scars. I haven't felt this good in years. Do yourself a favor, if you're in pain, and afraid of operations, contact Dr. Tatsumi for an appointment. You will not be disappointed. He's the best.
